Creativity: Lines in Black and White

Creating Patterns in Black and White

Starting patterns in black ink on white paper can be fun using a ruler or any straight edge. Start by getting the lines to run in parallel with each other either horizontally or vertically. Then experiment by making patterns with both horizontal and vertical lines with different spacings. Let your imagination loose by drawing diagonals, zigzagging lines and and exploring any kind of ‘mark-making’.

You will be surprised how much enjoyment you will feel through all your explorations and experimentation not only with black ink / pencil / felt tip pen on white paper but also white chalk on black paper !
