Versatile Chicken Wire
Chicken Wire of a larger mesh size (e.g. 2cm diameter) can be used to twist around the hexagonal wire netting creating a variety of patterns from all kinds of textile materials including different types of string, raffia, torn cotton, polyester, silk, crepe rags and even strips of plastics from shopping bags. Sometimes tissue paper can be twisted to make ‘threads’ that are tough enough to twist around the wire.

Working together in groups can be great fun, creating interesting patterns together.
So what can be done with these beautiful creations ? Some participants experimented with bending the colourful netting into different shapes that can be suspended by fishing line as innovative mobiles.
