Creativity: String Printing

Experimental string printing in a group is great fun. You will be surprised with the results you get.

You will need strong string to start with. When you become more confident in the process, thinner threads also make interesting patterns. Tubs of different colours of acrylic or poster paint are used to dip the string.

Taking a sheet of absorbent paper, folded in half, the string is dipped in a paint tub and gently placed on one half of the sheet of paper. The other half of the paper is folded over the string and pressed down for a few seconds.

Gently open up the folded paper. It’s Magic. All kinds of inventive ways can then be explored and experimented with.
